The Challenge:
The Red Oak Community Pool was constructed in 1979 and served the community well for many years. As one would imagine, the aging facility was experiencing operational and structural issues and a lack of modern pool amenity offerings. Due to these conditions, the city determined renovations were needed to operate properly, and the pool would remain closed until those improvements were complete.

The Solution:
The city hired JEO Consulting Group to evaluate the aging facility and provide renovation alternatives. Through a comprehensive process, the city selected a project that removed 5,400 square feet of the existing pool and replaced it with a 4,500 square foot zero-depth entry with modern amenities. A completely new mechanical system was added, as well as a new storm drainage system. The existing bathhouse remained in place, but modifications were made to the electrical system and mechanical room. Renovations were completed in 2020, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the facility remained closed to the public. The grand opening is now planned for 2021.

Project Benefits:
Red Oak now has a beautifully updated 12,375 square foot, 400,000-gallon pool that provides fun for all ages and abilities. Visitors will enjoy play features like a shark floatable, a one-meter diving tower, volleyball, basketball, a climbing wall, a waterslide, a family slide, and more. This new aquatic amenity will not only serve residents but will also draw others to the community.
