The Lower Platte North Natural Resources District (LPNNRD) is updating their Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) with the assistance of JEO Consulting Group. An HMP is a community-guided document that determines vulnerabilities to natural and man-made hazards, then identifies mitigation projects to reduce or eliminate those vulnerabilities. An approved HMP is a requirement of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for jurisdictions to become eligible for Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants. An HMP will enable your community to be stronger and more resilient by:

1. Reducing your community's risk and impacts from disasters;
2. Gaining eligibility for pre- and post-disaster mitigation grants; and
3. Building partnerships with stakeholders within your community and region.

HMPs must be updated and approved every five years. The LPNNRD last updated their HMP in 2020. Throughout the planning process, members of the community, (including school districts, fire departments, drainage districts, local health departments, and others,) are invited to participate by attending public meetings and providing information for the plan.

The planning process includes public meetings to provide an opportunity for participants and interested stakeholders to learn about the plan and provide input. Round 1 meetings will take place later in 2024. Invitations will be sent to all jurisdictions once the dates are set.

Regional HMP Upfront

Butler County Appendix: This appendix includes all the cities and villages participating within Butler County. It also includes the Platte Township.

Dodge County Appendix: This appendix includes Dodge County, Ames Dike and Drainage District, Cotterell Diking and Drainage District, North Bend Drainage District, City of Fremont, Village of Inglewood, Lake Ventura SID #3, City of North Bend, Woodcliff Lakes SID #8.

Saunders County Appendix: This appendix includes all the cities and villages participating within Saunders County. It also includes the Platte River Drainage District and Pohocco Township.

Partial Counties Appendix: This appendix includes the Village of Lindsay, City of Newman Grove, Village of Platte Center, Village of Richland, Village of Rogers, and City of Schuyler.

Special Jurisdictions Appendix: This appendix includes the Lower Platte North NRD, Cedar Bluffs Public Schools, Cedar Bluffs Fire Department, Colon Fire Department, David City Fire Department, David City Public Schools, Dwight Fire Department, East Central District Health Department, Linwood Fire Department, Mead Public Schools, North Bend Fire Department, Schuyler Fire Department, Weston Fire Department, and Yutan Fire Department.
