As the community of Wahoo, Nebraska, has grown, families have faced increasing pressure to find available childcare close to home. The need was clear, but a path forward had yet to emerge. Rather than leaving the need unaddressed, JEO stepped in to spark conversation, connect stakeholders, and help shape a vision that would meet the community’s needs. 

With help from JEO Investment’s real estate broker, JEO connected with the directors of a successful child development center from the neighboring city of Lincoln, Nebraska to explore establishing a facility in Wahoo. Those early discussions helped the team better understand the needs and key design considerations for a new facility. 

The project then became a fully integrated effort across the JEO family of companies—JEO Investments developed the land, JEO Consulting Group led the design of the site and facility, and our construction arm, Sand Creek Construction Company, managed construction from start to finish. JEO Building Company holds ownership of the property so that the tenant, Project Future, can focus on what it knows best: childcare. This level of collaboration, rare in the industry, made the project possible. 

The result is a thoughtfully designed 6,800-square-foot facility capable of serving up to 80 children. Since opening on March 9, 2026, the Wahoo Child Development Center has quickly become a valued community asset, reflecting JEO’s commitment to investing in the communities it serves. The project demonstrates what a fully integrated team can accomplish when the focus is on the community, creating a lasting impact that strengthens families and supports the city’s growth.
