At JEO, we pride ourselves on our vibrant company culture, and there's no better way to reinforce this idea than by participating in events that challenge us, unite us, and allow us to give back to the communities we serve. For the fourth year, our team took on RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa), an event that tested our endurance, brought us closer together, and connected us with the towns along the route.
Kicking Off with the Expo Event
Our adventure began Saturday before RAGBRAI rolled out of Glenwood with the much-anticipated Expo Event. Thousands of participants and attendees visited the vendor booths, and you could really feel the excitement and anticipation of the ride. Our booth was busy as the enthusiastic crowd spun the prize wheel to receive JEO swag, including items that could be used on the ride. This event was a great way to kick off RAGBRAI and provided an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow riders and share JEO's story.
Conquering the Shortest and Hilliest RAGBRAI
This year's RAGBRAI was unique. As the shortest, yet hilliest, route in the ride’s history, each day presented new challenges, with steep climbs and much-appreciated descents. Despite the climbs and rigorous terrain, we tackled every hill with determination. The beautiful landscapes, roadside petting zoos, and camaraderie among riders kept our spirits high and our legs moving.
Engaging with Communities
Our RAGBRAI journey wasn't just about the ride but also about connecting with the towns and farms we passed through. We engaged with local communities at each stop, learning about their unique histories and challenges. This year, passing through Greenfield was particularly sobering. The signs of tornado destruction from this spring were still visible, reminding us of the resilience of the effected communities. As a firm dedicated to improving infrastructure and community well-being, these interactions underscored our commitment to making a positive impact in the areas we serve.
Building Bonds
One of the most rewarding aspects of participating in RAGBRAI is the incredible opportunity it provides for team building. Riding side by side, sharing laughs, and encouraging each other through tough spots promoted unity and support among our team members. The shared experiences on the road translated into stronger relationships at the office, reinforcing the collaborative and supportive culture we strive to maintain at JEO.
