We are pleased to announce that Jason Peek has joined JEO as a senior project manager in Topeka, Kansas. With 23 years of experience in public infrastructure development, Peek holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech, a master’s degree in City Planning from Clemson University, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Georgia.
Prior to JEO, Peek served as Topeka’s Public Works Department Director. In this role, he led a department staff of 174 personnel representing nine divisions. Highlights of Peek’s time at Public Works include launching a pavement program to improve street quality, completing a comprehensive plan to modernize downtown parking operations, building asset management, leveraging GIS technology for data driven decision making, and managing government fleet operations.
Peek has spent his career working toward sustainable community infrastructure—a calling that started while serving in the Peace Corps as a Water and Sanitation Engineering Volunteer in Bohi, Mali. Before managing Topeka’s Public Works, Jason served in a variety of other roles: Transportation Department Director for the City of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Engineering Administrator for the Department of Transportation & Public Works in Athens, Georgia. His career has afforded him the opportunity to work in many areas of public infrastructure including water resources, roadways, bridges, Complete Streets, green infrastructure, traffic, planning, and solid waste. He has always enjoyed helping communities solve infrastructure challenges.
Additionally, Peek is active member of the American Public Works Association (APWA). He currently serves as the President of the APWA Kansas Chapter and as a committee member for the APWA National Government Affairs Committee.
“Jason has an extraordinary understanding of public infrastructure and a passion for implementing improvements. We’re very excited to have him bring his knowledge and experience to the JEO team in Kansas,” says Jim Tobaben, traffic senior project manager.
Peek is ready to get back to his roots in water resources. “I have been constantly impressed by the people of JEO. The employees are motivated, professional, and genuine,” says Peek, “I look forward to introducing the Kansas market to what JEO has to offer.”
