Jim Tobaben Takes the Helm of the Traffic & Technology Department

(January 30, 2025) Jim Tobaben, PE, PTOE, has been promoted to Traffic & Technology (T&T) Department Leader. Previously, he served as Senior Transportation Manager in the T&T department.

Jim brings 45 years of expertise in traffic engineering, specializing in traffic engineering, traffic safety, transportation planning, and roadway/intersection concept design to this new role. Prior to joining JEO in 2019, Jim worked for other consultants and spent 25 years with the Kansas Department of Transportation. During his tenure there, he spent seven years as State Traffic Engineer and another seven years as Bureau Chief of Transportation Planning.

In his new position, Jim will oversee a dynamic and expanding team of professionals specializing in all areas of traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems, and emerging technologies. He aims to leverage his innovative approaches to address traffic and safety challenges for JEO’s diverse client base.

When asked about his thoughts on his new role, Jim explains, “I’m excited to lead this group of top traffic engineering and ITS professionals who bring outstanding expertise and service to our city, county, and DOT clients.”
