An Afternoon of Insights and Inspiration

1/29/25

Recently, our Lawrence office welcomed three University of Kansas students as part of Jayhawks on the Job, a job-shadow event organized by the KU School of Engineering’s Engineering Career Center. The program strives to provide students with a focused experience that enhances their understanding of the field, offers an opportunity to learn more about themselves and their career goals, and allows them to network with engineering professionals.

Two senior-level staff members shared with the students about JEO projects, outlined the project process from beginning to end, advised about beneficial soft skills, and even told personal project stories. The students also learned from our communications team what it takes to tell impactful project stories.

Jon Marburger, Transportation Senior Project Manager who participated in the day, shared, “It was a pleasure to meet engineering students and share about JEO and the work we do. The opportunity to talk beyond technical ideas that they will get in their studies and delve into professional, career, and organizational topics will hopefully give great benefit to them as they explore and define what their ultimate job path will be. It’s awesome that JEO supports this.”
