Funding Available for Urban Forestry Projects

Grant funding worth $10 million was made available to Nebraska communities in early 2025 through the USDA Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry program. With $8 million left, now is the time to strengthen your community’s canopy.
What the Program Supports
- Tree planting, care, and removal to keep your canopy strong and healthy.
- Watershed protection through conserving forest patches and adding green stormwater infrastructure.
- Workforce development through student pathways, training programs, and job connections in the tree care industry.
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants include cities, towns, villages, counties, tribal governments, NRDs, schools, and 501(c)(3) nonprofits that are servicing public lands like parks, trails, cemeteries, and libraries.
