The 2016 Marion County Hazard Mitigation Plan was approved! Download it here.
We participated in the plan, now what?
The Marion County Hazard Mitigation Plan has been “approved pending [local] adoption” by FEMA, and must be adopted at a local level in order to receive the full benefits of participating in the plan. Each participant has received a resolution of adoption, which should be returned to John Brennan at the jurisdiction’s earliest convenience.
Participating in the Hazard Mitigation Plan makes communities eligible to receive grant funding through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grants. The HMA includes the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM), and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant programs. Most of these grants provide funding at a 75/25 cost share, with the local match being 25% of the total cost.
If you’d like to begin pursuing grant funding for one of your mitigation actions included in the plan, don’t hesitate to contact JEO staff, or Marion County Emergency Management as a first step!
