JEO is proud to share that John Callen, PE, CFM, a member of our Water Resources team, was recently elected as Chair of the Nebraska Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Association (NeFSMA).  Congratulations, John!

NeFSMA was founded in 2005 by a group of floodplain and stormwater management professionals to promote public awareness of the field, as well as act as an educational information exchange to keep interested entities and individuals up to date on these topics.

Although 2018 will be the first year that JEO team member will serve as Chair, the company’s involvement with the association began much earlier.  Lalit Jha, JEO’s VP of Water Resources, joined the organization at its inception and served as Second Vice Chair in 2008.  Through serving on the board, providing financial and material support, and offering professional expertise, JEO has played a large role in NeFSMA’s overall development and direction.  JEO benefits by having an opportunity to share and acquire knowledge and maintain its expertise by attending NeFSMA meetings and conferences.

John’s involvement with NeFSMA began in 2013 as an at-large board member.  From 2013 to 2014, John served as Co-Chair for the Professional Development Committee along with another JEO team member, Dan Fricke, PE, CFM. Along with other NeFSMA members, the two helped develop the organization’s overall meeting and conference formats. John remained on the committee as a member until 2016, and most recently served as Treasurer in 2017.  Dan has participated within the organization for the past five years, serving as Second Vice Chair in 2013-2014, and Secretary during 2015-2016.  In 2017, he was an at-large director for the group, and will serve in that capacity again in 2018.

JEO is proud to be a contributing member of NeFSMA’s mission and ongoing activities.  John’s participation in 2018 will undoubtedly offer several opportunities to both teach and learn, as well as make an impact in floodplain and stormwater management in many of our communities.
