JEO Departments Grow Over Recent Months

JEO’s transportation department has added four new team members within the past few months. These team members include Ryan Kavan, Jesse Sire, Mark Friend, and Jeremy Sheets.

Ryan Kavan, PE, CFM, joins JEO’s Grand Island, NE office as a project manager. He comes to JEO after serving as the city engineer for the City of Belle Fourche, South Dakota. Ryan has over twelve years of experience in the field of engineering. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Ryan is a registered professional engineer in Nebraska and South Dakota, in addition to being a Class A Street Superintendent and Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM). His skills include AutoCAD Civil 3D, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, along with overall client and team management.

Jesse Sire, PE, joins JEO’s Lincoln, NE office as a senior bridge engineer. He comes to JEO after eight years of working as an engineer for the Nebraska Department of Roads in their bridge division. Jesse earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He is a registered professional engineer in Nebraska. Jesse brings a variety of knowledge, including analysis and design of bridge structures, particularly in accordance with the latest structural codes and NDOR standards. He also has done reviews of bridge plans, construction support, material estimations in order for cost estimation, and field inspection.

Mark Friend joins JEO’s Lincoln, NE office as a project engineer with three years of previous engineering experience through internships. He recently graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. His skills include utilizing MicroStation, Geopak, AutoCAD, Cynchro, HCS Analysis, PTV VISSIM, Revit, and Inventor. Through his internships, he has gained knowledge by investigating intersection level of service using HCS Analysis, preparing and reviewing Synchro files, performing job walks and safety tours to confirm safety in the field, and overall assistance project managers and project engineers as was needed. Mark also belongs to the Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers.

Jeremy Sheets joins JEO’s Ankeny, IA office as a senior roadway designer. He brings over 18 years of experience from the private sector. Jeremy earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Architectural and Civil Design and Associate of Applied Science in CAD Technology from the University of Advancing Technology. His skills include utilizing AutoCAD, Microstation, InRoads, Geopak Modeler, and Projectwise. In past roles, Jeremy has helped develop CADD standards, served as quality control management, provided CADD training to others, designed 3D roadways using Geopak Modeler, and assisted engineers in the design of right-of-way, intersection geometry and shaping, roadway alignment and grading, pavement widening, etc.

JEO has also added three other team members in other departments throughout the company.

Ethan Fangmeier joins JEO’s survey team as a survey technician in our Lincoln, NE office. Ethan joins JEO after working for the Nebraska Department of Roads in the geodetics division. He received his Associate of Applied Science degree in Land Surveying/Civil Engineering from Southeast Community College. His skills include utilizing AutoCAD and Microstation, along with experience performing topographic and vertical control surveys.

Kris Brambila joins JEO’s client development team as a grant writer/marketing coordinator in the Lincoln, NE office. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Her skills include working with Adobe Creative Suite, along with strong written communication skills. In previous positions, Kris has performed copy writing, produced marketing materials, and worked with company’s websites.

Mike Schwab returns to JEO’s Lincoln, NE office to lead our new GIS department. He earned his Associate of Applied Science degree in Drafting from Southeast Community College. Mike previously worked for a software company where he helped take it from its startup phase to where it is now with its growth in employee base and client reach. Since this is a new department to JEO, we are still working to reach a vision and direction. More detailed information will be available as plans begin to be finalized and put into action.
