We would like to congratulate Matt Kalin for reaching 10 years of service with JEO Consulting Group, Inc. We asked Norfolk’s electrical engineer a few questions reflecting back on some of the most important and memorable moments throughout his time with the firm. These are Matt’s thoughts:
Why did you decide to become an engineer? “As a child, I enjoyed tinkering and tearing things apart. I always had to know the reason ‘why’ to things. Yep, I was that toddler that asked ‘why’ over and over and over; it drove my parents crazy. As I got older, the desire to know how things worked was still there, but I also wanted a career that helped people fix their problems and issues.”
What made you decide to say ‘yes’ to JEO? “While attending college, I heard about JEO from a classmate and JEO’s Norfolk office gave me the opportunity to stay close to family and friends.”
What do you like most about JEO? “I like the flexibility, atmosphere, and culture at JEO.”
What one project you’ve worked on sticks out to you the most? “I’ve had the opportunity to work on several projects with the community of Wood River; making it the largest project I’ve worked on to date. Wood River projects have included a sub transmission line, a new substation, and a distribution system upgrade, among others.
What advice do you have for someone just starting their career at JEO? “Try to get to know as many people as you can and learn what they do. This knowledge will catapult your understanding of what JEO does as a whole and what we can provide to our clients. Get to other offices and go to company events, you won’t regret it. Engage yourself.”
JEO thanks Matt for his 10 years of service and wish him many more years of success and happiness with JEO. His knowledge and commitment to JEO is remarkable!
