JEO Starts 2015 Off Strong

Continuing on the steady company-wide growth, JEO added three full-time staff members in January, all of whom will be instrumental in current and future projects.

Tom Plattner joins JEO as an embedded environmental scientist at the Nebraska Department of Roads, which he has been a part of since 2011. Plattner has over 25 years of experience in environmental work and biological studies in more than 25 states/countries. He has previously worked on projects that required National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, Waters of the U.S. (WOUS) surveys, wetland mitigation planning, and Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404 Permit applications. After Plattner completes his term at NDOR, he will join JEO’s environmental department as a senior environmental scientist in the Lincoln, NE office.

Plattner holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Culver-Stockton College and a master’s degree in environmental studies from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Alisha McGinn joins JEO’s transportation team as an engineering technician. She possesses a wide range of experience in design, survey, and drafting. She also has experience as an on-site representative for projects involving transportation, utility, site development, recreation, and storm water pollution prevention. Her skills also include using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

McGinn holds various Iowa DOT certificates, including: Certified Technician (CI131), Certified Aggregate Sample Technician Level I and II, Certified PCC Testing Technician Level I and II, Certified Soils Technician, and is Nuclear Gauge Training Certified. She holds an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology from Des Moines Area Community College. She will work out of JEO’s Carroll, IA office.

Alex Schlader recently transitioned from an intern to a full-time project engineer in JEO’s transportation department. Schlader will primarily focus on various current and future trails and roadway projects.

Schlader began his internship with JEO in March 2014, working on trail and roadway projects that utilized Microstation, Geopak, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. He also has experience using AutoCAD Inventor, ProDesktop, and Autodesk Revit. During his internship he also gained survey experience while helping JEO’s survey department on a street project in Ankeny, IA.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University and a bachelor’s degree in applied physics from the University of Northern Iowa. He will work out of JEO’s Ankeny, IA office.

Tiffany Marushak also recently transitioned from an intern to a full-time marketing coordinator in JEO’s client development department. As a marketing coordinator, Marushak will focus on working with other department team members to assist in preparation with proposal submittals and interviews. She will also assist with JEO’s social media accounts along with other various projects.

Marushak began her internship in September 2014, when she began to assist in proposal and interview preparation, along with coordination of social media accounts and blog posts for JEO’s website.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing with an emphasis in advertising from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She will work out of JEO’s Wahoo, NE office.
