ANKENY, IOWA – Daniel Sturm, PE, recently joined JEO Consulting Group, Inc as senior engineer/project manager in the transportation department. With 10 years of engineering and surveying experience, Sturm has been involved with survey, design, and inspection of public improvement projects including roads, recreational trails, storm sewers, watershed improvements, water mains, bridges, along with others. He also has experience working with federal and state agencies including Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Area 15 Regional Planning Commission, and Statewide Urban Design and Specifications (SUDAS).
“Daniel offers excellent experience in engineering and surveying for public improvement projects, such as roads, trails, water mains, and bridges. His five years as the city engineer for Ottumwa provides him excellent knowledge concerning federal and state agencies,” Justin Vogel, Iowa transportation manager at JEO, said about Sturm.
Sturm started at JEO on September 22, 2014 and has already become heavily involved in projects in Iowa, particularly Sioux City and Ankeny. As a senior project manager, he will focus on construction administration and design of roadways, sanitary and storm sewers, water mains, minor traffic signals, and culverts, while also mentoring younger JEO staff.

He is a member of the American Public Works Association and serves on the board of directors for SUDAS. Prior to joining JEO, Sturm was a city engineer for Ottumwa, IA, and has also served as a project manager in the private sector for five years.
Sturm holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University and is a licensed professional engineer in Iowa.
